Apologies for the lack of any kind of useful filmmaking info (though rest assured I never seize to stop looking for all kinds of filmmaking information, whether it’s through reading, interviews, or commentaries), I’m just a bit stuck on deciding how I should do this Tony Scott commentary I’ve been working on. I recently finished listening to the last of the commentaries Tony’s done for his films and traced and spliced out the bits on his filmmaking process, and now I’m faced with how to approach the final thing. I initially wanted to do it in much the same way as I did one for John McTiernan. Concentrating on the director’s filmmaking philosophy, process, ideas and concepts… but realized Tony Scott actually has a lot more material he shares in the commentaries for his films that wouldn’t fit into the usual nice, quick 15 minutes. There’s a bit of repetition but I don’t want to cut anything out of what I have – the essentials – so maybe you all can help me decide how to approach it.
These two options are ones that I’ve been thinking about, but I’m split. I could do one REALLY long one that comprises all of the 7 commentaries – like the John McTiernan commentary, or just release them all as parts, like the Cronenberg commentaries and the other ones I’ve released so far, of the 15 minute limit. Anyway, vote – let me know, help decide.
